About Buhrman Law Firm

Founded in 1974 by the late Richard W. Buhrman, Buhrman Law Firm has a long-standing tradition of excellence. After serving as a U.S. Army Captain during the Vietnam War, Richard returned to Chattanooga and began his legal career. In 2002, Richard's son, John R. Buhrman, joined the practice, continuing the family legacy of delivering exceptional legal services with a personal touch. John R. Buhrman, a Chattanooga native, is deeply committed to providing sound legal advice regarding estate planning, probate, elder law, business law, and establishing both conservatorships and guardianships.

 John’s long history of legal support is complemented by his dedication to the community. In addition to his legal career, John is an active member of the Chattanooga community, volunteering his time to various charitable causes.

John was born and raised in Chattanooga. He was active in the Boy Scouts growing up and earned his Eagle Scout Award. In law school, John earned the Book Award in his estate planning class for the highest grade. Prior to joining his father’s law practice in 2002, he worked for two years with UBS Trust Company.

John speaks on the areas of Chattanooga estate planning and probate to other attorneys, professionals and the public.

In evaluations by other attorneys and judges published by Martindale-Hubble, John holds the highest possible rating (referred to as an “A-V” rating.)

John is married to Julie Whittington Buhrman, whom he met in law school, and they have two daughters, Cameron and Sadie. John enjoys movies, spending time with his family and teaching himself the banjo.
