John R. Buhrman

Chattanooga Estate Planning Attorneys

John was born and raised in Chattanooga. He was active in the Boy Scouts growing up and earned his Eagle Scout Award. In law school, John earned the Book Award in his estate planning class for the highest grade. Prior to joining his father's law practice in 2002, he worked for two years with UBS Trust Company (formerly Bradford Trust Company).

John speaks on the areas of Chattanooga estate planning and probate to other attorneys and professionals, as well as to elders with the Chattanooga State Elder Law series. In the past, John served on the Siskin Children's Institute Professional Planned Giving Advisory Committee and was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

In evaluations by other attorneys and judges published by Martindale-Hubble, John holds the highest possible rating (referred to as an "A-V" rating.

John is married to Julie Whittington Buhrman, whom he met in law school, and they have two daughters, Cameron and Sadie. John enjoys golf, movies and spending time with his family.

Sharon King

Chattanooga Estate Planning Attorneys

Sharon has been with the firm since 2003. As paralegal for the firm, she assists the attorneys in the drafting and transcription of legal documents and correspondence, and performs general legal assistant duties on a day to day basis.

She has worked in various capacities of office administration; graduated from Dalton State College and has attended Chattanooga State College.

Sharon is married to Ronny King and they have two children, Danielle and Ethan. She enjoys helping others and is very involved with her church; she also enjoys reading, cooking, knitting, and loves spending time with her family.

Richard W. Buhrman

Richard was born and raised in Chattanooga and has practiced law in Chattanooga since 1966 and has been the owner of his own firm since 1972. His practice focuses in the area of Chattanooga estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and business and contract law. Richard went to high school and college locally in Chattanooga, graduating from Chattanooga High School in 1959 and the University of Chattanooga in 1963 receiving a double A.B. in Honors English and in Mathematics. He was the Cadet Battalion Commander of the Army R.O.T.C. unit at UC and a Distinguished Military Graduate. He received a regular Army Commission as a Second Lieutenant in Armor upon graduation, and served three years active duty from 1966-1969. He received his LL.B. from the Duke University School of Law in 1966 and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the George Washington University School of Law in 1970. Richard is married to Judy Ullenberg Buhrman, whom he met in high school, and they have three adult children, Tom, Audrey and John, as well as five grandchildren, Graham, Rosemary, Cameron, Sadie and Ryan. Richard enjoys fly fishing, reading and making chocolate chip pancakes for his grandchildren.
